1. Physical Education
In Scoil Bernadette every class has two 40minute PE classes per week.
We study invasion games: soccer, basketball, floorball and Olympic handball.
We study net fielding games: tennis, badminton, dodgeball and rounders.
We study health related fitness: fitness tests, gym work, circuit training and aerobics.
We study gymnastics: balances, travelling and sequences.
We study dance: Irish traditional dance and creative modern.
We study aquatics: all first years do five months compulsory swimming.
We study outdoor adventurous activities: orienteering.
We study athletics: sprinting, relays, long jump and shot putt.
As part of the Leaving Certificate Applied we study Active Leisure Studies and Leisure and Recreation.

2. Physical Activities
Our schools team compete with the schools of the Irish Special Schools Sports Council (ISSSC).
We play basketball, indoor football (5-a-side) and outdoor football (11-a-side). We are the current All Ireland Champions.
We have a fun sports jamboree.
We also compete in a swimming gala, an athletics competition and a table quiz.

Getting Fit
The Monday Mile is held every Monday at lunchtime. Students can walk or run 7 laps of the Spraoi Centre track (our sports yard). We use this to complete the Run Around Europe Challenge. Classes can and do take exercise breaks and count how many laps they complete.

School Fun Runs
The Whole school Went to Tramore Valley Park and walked or ran a 2.5km lap of the park. Some even did two laps. We hope to do it again in Spring.

1. December 4th - 8th - Be Thankful Week
The whole school tried to be thankful for everything we had in our lives. We created a gratitude tree. The staff gave out motivational stickers to students who said thank you.
Ms. Kelly's class held a whole school assembly on being thankful.
We also ran or walked for 20 minutes to show our gratitude for our health.
2. February 26th to March 2nd - Be Friendly Week
3. April 23rd to 27th - Be Nice Week

3. Partnerships
Our local GAA Club, Mayfield, have come into the school and coached us in Gaelic Football. The GAA opened up Croke Park for an Interprovincial Gealic Football blitz run by the ISSSC.
The FAI have involved us in their Football For All programme. We have had students represent Ireland through this initiative.
Athletics Ireland have run an indoor athletics coaching and event day in conjunction with the local Special Inclusion Disability office (SIDO).
The IRFU have held tag rugby blitzes in Thomond park and Irish Independent Park. This was organised in conjunction with the ISSSC.
We have had student teachers from UCC and CIT come to our school to help coach and teach (organised in conjunction with the SIDO).

A very enjoyable week was had by all with the following activities taking place.
